One woman is dead after a head-on collision on Interstate 75 in Fort Wright early Sunday, according to Covington police.
Police responded to reports of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on northbound I-75 just after 7 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, officers discovered it was a two-vehicle accident, said Covington Police Chief Brian Valenti.
The woman driving the correct way on the interstate died. Police are not releasing her name.
There were two people in the car traveling the wrong way, and they were both taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injures, according to police.
All lanes of I-75 northbound were closed for roughly seven hours as police and crews cleaned up debris along the highway. Traffic has since resumed as normal.
