Homer Groger was scheduled to be the grand marshal of the City of Covington Memorial Day parade, but it was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, as the Taylor Mill man turned 100 over the weekend, he received a parade of his own.
People drove up to his home and thanked him for his service in World War II, and to wish him a happy birthday.
Mayor Dan Bell offered a proclamation in Groger’s honor.
Groger has four children, six grandchildren, twelve great-grant children, and one great-great-grandchild.
He would have worn a sash during the Covington parade, so he was presented with that, too, in Taylor Mill over the weekend.
