It could feel as cold as thirty-five degrees below zero on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind chill warning is in effect from 4 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Tuesday and a winter weather advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday.

The NWS predicts that snow and blowing snow will happen Sunday night with a very quick drop in temperatures that could cause any standing water to freeze rapidly. Snow accumulation is expected to be around an inch in most places.

Westerly winds will arrive at speeds of fifteen to twenty-five miles per hour and are expected to blow through Tuesday. Some wind gusts could reach speeds of thirty to thirty-five miles per hour.

Some hazards could include reduced visibility and dangerously cold temperatures.

The overnight low is expected to be 1 degree. Monday’s high is set to be 2 degrees with a low of minus-9. Tuesday’s high will be just 5 degrees. Temperatures begin to increase on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the twenties and thirties. 

Covington trash collection affected

Republic Services, the City of Covington’s third-party trash collection provider formerly known as CSI) will not collect trash on Monday. Work will resume Tuesday if temperatures improve. This will force a delayed schedule all week.

A delayed schedule means that those areas normally serviced on Monday will now receive service on Tuesday and areas normally serviced on Tuesday will received service on Wednesday, and so for the rest of the week, ending on Saturday.
 
Emergency Shelter of NKY
 
A call for assistance from the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky has come as the shelter reaches capacity.
 
A senior day care center in Ft. Thomas has agreed to hold at least ten people in their building starting Monday and for the next three nights until the extreme cold subsides.
 
Volunteers are needed.
