Patrons were shuffled out fast while they were having dinner at around 7:00 Sunday night at Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in the Newport Plaza. The roof and walls were literally collapsing around them.
Witnesses on scene said they could see ceiling tiles falling down and people running around while strong winds pushed through the region. Some reports stated that it was just a matter of a false wall that came loose. Those reports as obviously false as can be seen from the pictures. The roof along Rio Grande, Planet Pet,Plaza Barbers and Radio Shack is damaged.
No timetable is set for repair.
