The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association released their lists of Region and Coach of the Year for each of the 16 regions across the state on Monday.
Holy Cross’ Julia Hunt was named the 9th Region Player of the Year and Scott’s Milyn Minor was the 10th Region Player of the Year.
Hunt’s storied high school career came to a close last week in the 35th District tournament in a loss to Beechwood, but she’s far from done yet as she’ll continue her career at the University of Washington. Hunt amassed more than 2,000 career kills and 500 blocks at Holy Cross. She led the state this season in kills with 658 in 95 sets of action, averaging 6.93 per set. Her 114 blocks were top 20 in the state. She also had 286 digs and 83 aces for the Indians, who finished with a 23-11 record.

Minor led the Eagles with 384 kills during the regular season as Scott has advanced to the 10th Region semifinals. The sophomore has also tallied 297 digs, 39 aces, 33 blocks and 21 assists as a six-rotation player. She recently cleared the 1,000-kill mark for her varsity career. Â

Ryle’s Tasha Lovins was named the Coach of the Year in the 9th Region. Lovins helped lead the Raiders to a 24-13 record and 10-3 in region play. Ryle won the 33rd District for the fourth consecutive season and Lovins cleared the 500-win plateau earlier in the season.
All recipients will be honored at the KHSAA state tournament at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester during ceremonies between the semifinal matches on Saturday, Nov. 4.
