Edgewood Fire/EMS will be doing mutual aid training scenarios at Turkeyfoot Middle School and Caywood Elementary School Thursday and Friday, according to a recent announcement from the department.
“You may see increased emergency vehicle traffic, personnel in full gear and simulated operations around the school grounds,” reads the announcement.
Mutual aid refers to adjacent departments sharing resources and personnel in emergency situations. Mutual aid is a big part of both fire/EMS departments and police departments in Northern Kentucky, given the region’s numerous cities and small departments.
“This is a planned training exercise only — there is no actual emergency,” the announcement continues. “This training helps our department and mutual aid partners stay sharp and better prepared to serve our community.”
