The Beechwood Tigers (25-5) run-ruled the Holmes Bulldogs (6-23) in the 35th District semifinals, 18-0 in three innings on a day that rain canceled many games in the area.

Junior Matt Kappes (5-1) earned the win for Beechwood. He struck out one.

Beechwood batted 10 for 13 overall. Senior Brett Holladay went 3 for 3 with a grand slam home run for his third of the season, a triple, five RBI and scored two runs. Junior Cameron Boyd also hit a grand slam for his 15th of the year and scored three runs. Junior Landon Johnson went 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBI with junior Ben Meier adding his first home run of the season. Junior Mitchell Berger went 2 for 2 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.

The district championship takes place Friday at Covington Catholic. The Tigers will play at 5 p.m.
