The Dixie Heights girls extended their winning streak to eight straight with a convincing 60-27 win over visiting Owen County.

Catherine Buddenberg scored 18 points to lead the Colonels and Abby Thelen scored 10. Dixie Heights shot 46% from the field.

Dixie Heights (13-8) will have its streak tested with three-time defending champion Sacred Heart coming up from Louisville for a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday.

Girls Basketball

Grant County 63, Walton-Verona 53

The Bearcats lost the 32nd District battle to finish 0-2 in district seed play and will face Simon Kenton as the third seed in the district tournament.

Grant County won the rebounding battle, 34-24 and wound up taking 27 more shots as a result. The Bearcats also turned the ball over 17 times compared to 11 for the Braves.

Walton-Verona placed three players in double figures. Cam Christy led the way scoring 22 points. Braylin Terrell and Elin Logue added 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bearcats (13-9) host Owen County on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Villa Madonna 66, St. Patrick 26

Henry Thole recorded another double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds as the Vikings ventured south to Maysville and picked up a road win.

Every played that entered the game for Villa scored, 11 players doing so. Quinn Thomas added 10, Adam Brandstetter chipping in nine.

Villa Madonna (9-12) plays in the NKAC Classic against Calvary Christian on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
