LINK nky is once again excited to partner with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and announce the highly popular Team of the Week and Team of the Season awards are back for 2025-26 sports seasons!

To be the winning team, fan votes play a heavy role, along with consideration from our sports team here at LINK.

OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and LINK nky are excited to expand once again and continue addition to the LINK nky Team of the Week (TOTW) weekly winners, the program will be including three winners for Team of the Season (TOTS) and one overall winner for Team of the Year (TOTY) for the 2025-26 sports seasons.

Sports seasons are considered fall, winter and spring for the purpose of this awards program. At the conclusion of each sports season, an overall TOTS winner will be chosen from all previous TOTW winners for that season. Their school will receive a commemorative plaque and also receive a $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.

Finally, the program culminates by selecting one TOTY from the three TOTS award winners. Online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.

The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.

This week’s nominated teams are listed below with some information provided by the submitter or LINK nky staff. The poll where you can vote follows at the end of the article.

DIXIE HEIGHTS BOYS LACROSSE

The Colonels won back-to-back district championships with a 9-7 victory over Ryle last week. They trailed 7-6 in the fourth quarter and scored three unanswered in the final 4:24 to preserve the victory.

Evan Rohlman provided the equalizer with 4:24 to play, tournament MVP Aiden Wood scored the game-winning goal with 2:31 to go and Owen Peterson delivered the knockout blow in the closing seconds.

While Wood won the Tournament MVP, Cole Grimes and Eli Lawson also earned All-Tournament team honors.

BISHOP BROSSART GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Bishop Brossart’s girls won a seventh straight regional title on Friday by outscoring Beechwood, 166-108.

Senior Ava Walters won the shot put with a 36 feet, 11 ¾ inch toss and the discus with a 123-11. A second reason Brossart won was its distance relay teams. Tessa Hafer, Addison Geiman, Larah Callahan and Callie Ochsner won the 4×800, and Callahan, Aubrey Bevan, Hafer and Mackinley Scott took the 4×400.

BEECHWOOD BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Beechwood edged Bishop Brossart 150-133 to win the Class A, Region 4 title.

When you looked for reasons Beechwood’s boys won, senior Brody Aylor was atop the list.

Aylor won the 100-meter dash in 11.19, the 200 in 22.47 and was part of the winning 4×100 and 4×200 quartets. His teammate Nathan Pabst was right there with him as they racked up 36 points in the 100 and 200-meter dashes.

COVINGTON CATHOLIC TRACK AND FIELD

Covington Catholic won 11 of 18 events on their way to a Class 2A, Region 4 track and field title on Saturday at Bishop Brossart. It’s their third straight region title.

The Colonels lapped the field, scoring 222 points, Bourbon County runner-up with 109. Individual region champs were Jacob Keller in the 110-meter hurdles, Dominic Terzo in the 300-meter hurdles, Rhett Blettner in the 400, Joe Mayer in the 3,200, Quentin Jones in the discus, Will Danneman in the long jump and Landon Dailey in the high jump. All four relay teams won their events in the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800.

COOPER BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Cooper squeaked past Ryle, 128-117 for the Class 3A, Region 5 title.

Paul Van Laningham won four events, the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 and ran the anchor leg of the winning 4×800 relay. 

Van Laningham was not Cooper’s only regional champion – Carson Clark won the shot put, Julienne Knuckles took the high jump, and Corey Freihofer won the pole vault.

RYLE GIRLS TENNIS

The Lady Raiders won the 9th Region tennis tournament, unseating Notre Dame in their third straight finals matchup. Notre Dame had won the prior two.

After a bye in the first round, Ryle defeated St. Henry 3-0 in the quarterfinals, Conner 3-0 in the semifinals and Notre Dame 3-2 in the championship.
