The LINK nky Team of the Week for Jan. 23-29 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Holy Cross girls basketball team.
The Indians received a whopping 91% of the vote in running away with the poll over the Campbell County boys basketball team, Newport Central Catholic girls bowling team and Dayton boys bowling team.
Earning Holy Cross the honors was when they took home their second All “A” state title in program history with a 65-61 victory over Bethlehem on January 28.
HOLY CROSS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM

The Indians made the run in Richmond and were the last team standing at Eastern Kentucky University for the All “A” Classic state tournament.
The tournament that consists of the 120 smallest schools in Kentucky has a regional All “A” tournament to advance to state. After Holy Cross breezed through the 9th Region, they advanced to Richmond and defeated Leslie County, Owen County, Pikeville and Bethlehem on their way to the trophy.
Julia Hunt was named tournament MVP, posting a stat line of 21 points, 19 rebounds and eight blocked shots in the title game. Nejai Lewis scored her 1,000th career point in the victory over Bethlehem in the title tilt. Lewis was named to the all-tournament team along with seniors Sarah Bottom and Aleah Arlinghaus.
The title was the second in program history for the girls team coached by Ted Arlinghaus. They’re now 22-5 in the season and ranked No. 7 in the state in the latest girls statewide media poll. On Saturday, they got to play at the historic gym in Knightstown, Indiana where the movie “Hoosiers” was filmed. Holy Cross defeated Walton-Verona, 90-59 for their ninth consecutive victory.
