Of all the baseball and softball games scheduled involving teams in Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties, only one baseball took place as a result of rain in the area.
The Bishop Brossart Mustangs baseball team (15-10-1) ventured south and knocked off the Pendleton County Wildcats, 5-2. The Mustangs are 6-5 against 10th Region competition.
Bishop Brossart trailed 2-1 after four innings. The Mustangs tied it 2-2 after five innings then scored twice in the sixth inning to go up 4-2 and added one in the top of the seventh.
Bishop Brossart committed no errors to one for Pendleton County (8-13). The Mustangs scored one unearned run off the error.
The Mustangs batted .269 (7 for 26) overall with three players recording multi-hit games. Junior catcher Brandon Bezold went 2 for 2 with one run batted in and two runs scored. Senior Adam Bezold went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBI and one run scored. Senior third baseman Andrew Beck went 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and one run scored.
Senior Mitchell Combs (4-1) earned the win pitching five innings walking two and allowing five hits and two earned runs. Junior Colin Combs pitched the final two innings striking out two, walking three and allowing no hits or runs.
Bishop Brossart travels to Walton-Verona (16-8) on Thursday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
