FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ERLANGER–ELSMERE, KY — October 30, 2026
Erlanger Councilwoman Renee Wilson extends heartfelt appreciation to Elsmere VFW Ralph Fulton Post 6423, Erlanger’s Lloyd Memorial High School, and Northern Kentucky University (NKU) and their Veteran’s Resource Station for their outstanding commitment to honoring Veterans, supporting military families, and inspiring future generations.
“From recognizing Veterans and teachers to awarding student scholarships, organizing the annual Memorial Day Parade, and hosting family-friendly Trunk or Treat celebrations, VFW Post 6423 demonstrates that service extends far beyond military duty,” said Wilson. “We also applaud Lloyd Memorial High School and NKU’s Veteran’s Resource Station (VRS) for their meaningful annual Veterans Day celebrations!”
U.S. Marine Veteran Larry Owen and Kenton County Conservation District Board Supervisor shared: “As a Marine, retired teacher, and community volunteer, I appreciate organizations that honor our Veterans while investing in young people. Their kindness and commitment strengthen our entire community.”
Kentucky Colonel Serena Owen, educator, missionary, former Councilwoman, School Board candidate, and Community Heroes, Inc. founder, added: “As the proud wife of a U.S. Marine Veteran, I sincerely thank VFW Post 6423, Lloyd Memorial High School, NKU’s Veteran’s Resource Station, and our community partners for honoring Veterans, supporting military families, and inspiring our youth. Together, we celebrate their service that helps strengthen our communities!”
Destiny Owen, NKU junior and military-connected student leader, reflected: “Participating in Veterans Appreciation Breakfasts at Lloyd Memorial High School taught me the importance of honoring those who served. Now, NKU’s Veterans Resource Station provides advocacy, guidance, resources, and encouragement for military-connected students like me. I am truly grateful!”
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The United States is home to approximately 17 million U.S. military Veterans, highlighting the importance of continued recognition and support.
Wilson concluded, “To every Veteran, educator, student, volunteer, and community partners, thank you for serving, caring, and making Northern Kentucky shine!”
