Taylor Mill native Carly Pearce came home to Northern Kentucky Saturday night to perform at the Heart of Country Music Festival in Independence.
During her set, Pearce took a few minutes to talk about what it meant to be back home, including driving past the Taylor Mill sign with her name on it and seeing the place where she grew up.
Pearce attended Taylor Mill Elementary and Woodland Middle School before spending a year at Scott High School. At 16, she left Northern Kentucky to take a job performing at Dollywood and continue pursuing a career in country music.
Her return to Northern Kentucky brought that story full circle.
Before continuing her set Saturday night, Pearce spoke about Taylor Mill and how much coming home meant to her, drawing a big response from the hometown crowd.
Pearce was one of the headliners at the two-day Heart of Country Music Festival, held Sept. 11 and 12 at the Kenton County Fairgrounds.
