CRESTWOOD, KY – Democrat Monica Dean, a Navy combat veteran, single mother and 2023 Kentucky Woman Veteran of the Year, has officially announced her candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Dean is running to bring compassionate, common-sense leadership to Washington and to offer voters a clear alternative to the extremist politics of incumbent Thomas Massie.
“Our communities deserve a representative who is present, principled, and focused on the real issues facing Kentucky families,” said Dean. “That’s why I’m running to end corruption in Congress and shift the focus back to everyday Americans. From protecting access to reproductive health care to standing up for working families and public education, I’m running to be a voice for all of KY-4 — not just the loudest fringe.”
Growing up in Northern Ohio, Monica Dean is a homegrown candidate who brings her own lived experiences in rural communities and a deep commitment to service to KY-4. She offers a fresh perspective grounded in real-world experience, a deep understanding of the challenges facing working families, and the courage to stand up for what’s right.
In Congress, Monica Dean’s top priorities will be strengthening supports for veterans, defending public education, protecting affordable healthcare, and pushing forward family-focused policies that make raising a family in KY-4 safer and more affordable.
To celebrate the official start of her campaign, Monica Dean will host a Campaign Launch Party on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Black Community Center in Crestwood, KY from 3-5pm. All members of the community are invited to attend for an afternoon of food, conversation, and an opportunity to hear directly from Monica about her vision for a better, stronger Kentucky.
“This campaign isn’t about me — it’s about us,” said Dean. “Together, we can build a movement that brings compassion, courage, and common sense back to Washington.”
