HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Kentucky Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman will attend the
Northern Kentucky University Teacher Candidate Recognition Ceremony and inaugural pinning
on Monday, April 29.
The ceremony will honor 92 graduates from the College of Education’s Teacher Preparation and
Education Studies department. Lt. Governor Coleman will join NKU for the second year in a row
to celebrate the graduates as a featured speaker.

When: Monday, April 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: University Center Ballroom
Graduates of NKU’s College of Education have served in every school district in the
Commonwealth of Kentucky and more than 93 percent of NKU College of Education graduates
obtain a job in their field within two months of graduating. “The pinning ceremony is a symbol of
our graduate’s commitment to shaping the future,” remarked Ginni Fair, dean of the College of
Education. “Each pin represents their dedication to the profession of teaching, carrying with it
the responsibility to inspire, guide and empower generations to come.”
Lt. Governor Coleman started her career as a high school civics teacher and also served as an
assistant principal before becoming the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s highest elected teacher.
In 2013, she founded her own nonprofit, Lead Kentucky, which prepares, encourages and
empowers Kentucky’s college women to seek leadership positions on their campuses and in
their professional lives.
