Who doesn’t like to play with radio-controlled cars, trucks and bulldozers? Well, now an Erlanger business, Can U Dig It RC, is bringing the joys of RC vehicles to local kids and families.

“I saw a video online of a coffee shop in Dubai that had these construction machines, and we were just kind of looking for something to do as a side hustle,” said business Co-Founder Tim Yelvington, who started Can U Dig It RC with his wife Jennifer. “So, we built a mobile trailer to take to fairs and events, and we did that all through the summer and fall of ’25.”

The Yelvingtons, who work full time in the tech sector, would often pass by the empty storefront at 476 Erlanger Road where the business now sits.

“All of a sudden there were lease signs, and we got in touch with the guys and made this all work out and built up this little place,” said Yelvington, adding that they still maintain their trailer and use it to travel to shows.

The store, which opened in February 2026, is split into two main sections. The first is a paddock filled with dirt on one side of the building. The vehicles there are construction-themed: cranes, excavators and utility trucks.

The other half of the store contains a modular course for RC trucks and cars. The course can be assembled and reassembled into customizable layouts. The business has in-house RC vehicles patrons can borrow, but people are free to bring their own vehicles as well, allowing the business to tap into the custom RC vehicle community.

“There’s a big community of people that not only build and like this as a hobby but compete against each other,” Yelvington said. “Because it’s not only how good your car is but how good of a driver you are. It really makes a difference.”

The business even holds monthly competitions for the modular course. The recent Oct. 24 event had 37 participants.

Harry Frazier and his daughter Adrianna Frazier are RC enthusiasts turned repeat customers.

“This is probably the only place you can go that has this here,” Harry said, referring to the modular course. “Otherwise, you have to build some little small things here and there, go to a little creek and just climb over little rocks and whatnot. So, to have something like this is pretty awesome, especially a place you can bring the kids to.”

“It’s very challenging, and it calms my mind sometimes, and it’s also really, really fun to do with my dad,” said Adrianna.

The business also hosts birthday parties and corporate events. There’s even a way for patrons to sponsor a session for kids and families who can’t afford a session fee.

“We put it out there, and our customers have been more than generous,” said Yelvington. “We’ve been able to give out probably to date 30 or 40 free sessions.”
