On Saturday, April 13th, Life Learning Center (LLC) will participate in Urban Forestry’s spring tree-planting initiative. LLC Candidates and Members will start at 8:30 a.m. at the LLC campus; volunteers from the community will start at 9 a.m. at Latonia Elementary School in the parking lot on Park Ave between 39th and 40th streets.
LLC delivers a holistic, integrated continuum of education and care to help “at-risk” individuals reach their highest potential. To build on LLC’s vision of creating a caring and serving community, the organization continues to provide a breadth of giveback opportunities where participants make meaningful contributions within their community. Empowering program participants with a “menu” of service-related options puts dollars back into the community and increases Candidate and Member dignity by showing them the tangible difference they can make. Individuals who plan to participate in this initiative include LLC staff, LLC volunteers, LLC Candidates (currently enrolled in the LLC program), and Members (those who have graduated from the program, sustained employment, and are committed to a substance-free lifestyle). This is the second event Life Learning Center has participated in with Urban Forestry, as the organization’s Candidates and Members enjoy getting their hands dirty, bonding with other members within the community, and beautifying the streets they call home.
