Attorney General Daniel Cameron offered his support over the weekend of a Florida lawsuit that seeks to detain illegal immigrants at the United States border instead of releasing them into the country.

Cameron said that the Biden Administration is not detaining the immigrants as the law requires. Releasing illegal immigrants into the country, Cameron said, violates a policy called “parole” and only further incentivizes illegal immigration.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron joined an amicus brief supporting the State of Florida’s lawsuit against a new Biden Administration policy seeking relief at the southern border.

Cameron argued, however, that rather than detaining illegal immigrants as the law requires, the Biden Administration is releasing the vast majority into the United States. This policy, called “parole,” violates federal immigration law and only further incentivizes illegal immigration.

“President Biden’s refusal to secure our border threatens the safety of Kentucky communities, fuels the illicit fentanyl crisis, and places additional strains on our state resources,” Cameron said. “We joined this brief to demand that the Biden Administration put the safety and security of the American people first.”

Cameron is joined by the attorneys general of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Cameron expressed his support in a brief that can be read here.
