Kentucky Republican Gubernatorial candidate Kelly Craft is holding a Get Out the Vote Rally with presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy in Florence next Monday, a day before the May 16 primary.
Ramaswamy is a Cincinnati native and 2024 presidential hopeful. He will appear with Craft at 1 p.m. on May 15 at the Florence Nature Park Event Center.
Craft has called on powerful allies in recent days. She is also appearing with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in Louisville and Richmond on May 13 for GOTV rallies.
Craft, who trails frontrunner Attorney General Daniel Cameron by six points in the polls, is looking to bolster her chances ahead of the primary date.
Craft gained significant ground on Cameron after she gave her campaign $9.3 million in personal loans to spend on attack ads against Cameron. She’s spent over $4 million on TV ads.
“Kelly Craft is the candidate that Kentuckians need as their governor to usher in a new generation of leadership,” Cruz said in a statement. “I’ve seen firsthand how hard Kelly has worked to stand up to the Chinese Communist Party and negotiate the largest trade deal in American history.”
Speaking at an event in Northern Kentucky last week, Cameron said Craft is “running on ads, and I am running on a record.”
Craft also came under fire earlier this week when she said, “We will not have transgenders in our school system” during a telephone town hall event.
“Of course, Kelly was referring to the woke ideologies being pushed in our schools,” said Weston Loyd, her campaign spokesperson in a statement. “She has been advocating for the best for all children this entire Campaign.”
Craft and Ramaswamy didn’t respond to requests for comment at the time of publication.
