As snow falls across the region and temperatures drop, The National Weather Service has declared a Winter Storm Warning in Northern Kentucky and all surrounding counties.
“Plan on slippery road conditions,” according to NWS storm warning released late Thursday. “Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.”
The storm warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Friday and residents are urged to stay home.
“If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” the NWS said in storm warning. “Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.”
In Boone County, First Church of Christ and St. Timothy Church are the warming center locations; residents are asked to call 859-371-1234 if they need to utilize that service.
In Campbell County, the warming center is at Holy Spirit Parish Center at 827 Saratoga St. in Newport. Call 859-479-4773 at all hours if needed.
