Newport Central Catholic High School announced the hiring of new cheerleading and girls cross country coaches.
On Thursday that it hired Jodi Luhn was named as new cheer coach and Kristie Westcott was named girls cross country coach.
Luhn’s coaching experience includes four years at Olean High School in New York. While coaching, her varsity squad competed in various cheer competitions and Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) summer camps. She has 10 years of teaching experience at the elementary and middle school level and is currently working at Fort Thomas Independent Schools.
“I am excited and blessed to have received the opportunity to coach and continue to build and grow the cheer program at NCC,” Luhn said.
Luhn lives in Cold Spring with her husband Jake, and their three children.
Westcott is a 2010 Newport Central Catholic alumna. During her time at NCC, she ran cross country and was a member of the track and field team.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to coach the NCC girls cross country team,” Westcott said. “This holds a special place in my heart and completely changed my life far beyond my high school years.”
Upon graduation, Westcott has continued her love for running and strength training through training for races with her personal strength trainer and with a running group.
“We are excited to welcome Jodi and Kristie to the NewCath family. Coach Luhn and Coach Westcott are eager to get started and both want to build their programs,” NewCath Athletic Director Jeff Schulkens said.
