Newport Public Works crews are continuing to clear storm debris across the city after severe weather left downed trees, limbs and other hazards in its wake Tuesday.

The city gave an update Wednesday afternoon that public works continues cleanup from yesterday’s storms, prioritizing downed trees and limbs blocking streets and sidewalks, debris on vehicles and storm sewer inlets. Cleanup efforts will continue throughout the week.

Residents with smaller limbs and brush may place them in the public sidewalk area behind the curb for collection. The city asks that residents keep streets and sidewalks as clear as possible and avoid placing debris in the roadway.
