A new salt building is coming to Fort Wright, hopefully before the next snowfall occurs, according City Administrator Jill Bailey.
“We’re excited to see it come to Fort Wright,” said Bailey.
The Kenton County Planning Commission OK’ed a public facility review for new storage building Thursday evening. The city hopes to put it near the Fort Wright City Building.

Located on the former site of “Fort Tot,” an old playground that was removed to make room for the salt building, the structure will span about 45 feet in diameter and 28 feet tall. A four-foot asphalt apron will lead up to its 18 feet by 15 feet door. Additional landscaping was also included in the city’s development plan.
Earth working for the project has already been put out to bid. The City estimates the project will cost between $300,000 and $400,000 to build, but the final price tag will be determined by contractor bidding amounts.
