The City of Ludlow and Southbank Partners, the organization behind the Riverfront Commons project, celebrated the completion of phase two of Ludlow’s portion of the project’s Riverwalk this week with a ribbon cutting. The event marks the latest development in the project, which will see eight of the region’s river cities connected across twenty miles of walking paths.
With Thursday’s ribbon cutting, that portion of the Riverwalk is now officially open for public use.
“The Riverwalk is more than just a paved trail, but rather an active transportation system for urban living and a defining part of our region’s riverfront,” said Will Weber, president and CEO of Southbank Partners in a press release. “Each new phase creates more opportunities to experience the riverfront while continuing to connect people to shared places through recreation, placemaking and regional collaboration.”

“This project is an investment in Ludlow’s future and the experience of everyone who lives, works and visits here,” said Ludlow Mayor Sarah Thompson. “We are proud to work with Southbank Partners to continue expanding access to our riverfront and to be part of a regional effort that is creating something truly special for Northern Kentucky.”
