Kenton County joined Campbell County Tuesday night by declaring a local state of emergency in the face of ongoing flood damage. The local declaration allows the county to access federal aid resources and better coordinate with state and federal providers.

“It also makes Kenton County, its cities and residents eligible for potential federal aid if the County meets its damage threshold,” the announcement from the county reads. “A damage assessment will be conducted in the coming days once floodwaters have receded. Several areas remain inaccessible due to flooding, and the public is urged to adhere to all posted barricades and road closures.

“The Kenton County Office of Emergency Management will provide additional outreach to local jurisdictions as more information regarding relief efforts becomes available. Residents impacted by the storm are encouraged to follow updates from local authorities.”
