Following several days of severe weather that brought heavy rain, strong winds, mudslides and widespread flooding, Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery has declared a local state of emergency to speed up recovery efforts.
The declaration allows Campbell County to mobilize its emergency response teams and infrastructure resources fully. It authorizes emergency spending, temporary workers, equipment rentals and the coordination of support across local and state agencies.
“This declaration means we can act fast and use every resource available to help our communities recover,” Pendery said in a press release. “I want to personally thank our first responders, road crews, and all those who’ve stepped up to support our neighbors.”
The Campbell County Office of Emergency Management is actively coordinating with Kentucky Emergency Management to assess damage and prepare for long-term recovery. Campbell County is one of 67 counties in Kentucky currently under a state of emergency.
“We are working around the clock to assess the damage and get help where it’s needed most,” said Campbell County Office of Emergency Management Director William Turner. “We urge all residents to avoid flooded areas and sign up for Smart911 to stay informed—it’s a free and lifesaving tool.”
