The Union City Commission did not make an appointment for the final seat on the city commission on Wednesday, in spite of statements from Mayor Larry Solomon at the first commission meeting in February.
The final appointment was rescheduled for a special meeting on Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.
The city put out a call for applications for the final seat earlier this month. The current commission consists of Solomon, Doug Bine, John Mefford and George Eldridge, the latter three of whom were appointed on Feb. 3.
The commission formerly consisted of Solomon, Mefford, Brian Garner, and Eric Dulaney. At the end of January, Boone County Circuit Court Judge Richard Brueggemann ousted all members of that commission, except the mayor, following a court battle that began shortly after the general election in November. The legal proceedings stemmed from reports of wrong ballot distributions at two Union precincts on Election Day.
Both Dulaney and Garner were passed over an appointment, and Jeremy Ramage, who had won a reelection bid in November, according to the election results before the court case, vacated his seat in December. Garner confirmed with LINK nky that he had submitted an application for the final seat.
The special meeting will take place at the Union City Building on Bristow Drive at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25. The meeting will be open to the public.
