Ahead of this weekend’s expected storm, a winter weather watch has been issued for the Northern Kentucky region.
There is “increasing confidence that a swath of significant snow totals is expected” Sunday into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS is also reporting a wintery mix that could result in ice accumulation in NKY.
As of Friday morning, Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties have an 80-100% chance of a snow accumulation of six inches or more.
The NWS noted that a winter storm watch (what the region is under as of Friday morning) means a storm is possible and to be prepared, while a winter storm warning means the weather is expected and you should take action. They suggest keeping an eye out because the area is expected to transition into a warning over the next 24 hours.
