The Duke Energy Foundation granted the Gateway Community & Technical College Foundation a $10,000 grant as part of the nonprofit’s 40-year anniversary celebration.

In addition to Gateway, two Cincinnati-based nonprofits with operations in Northern Kentucky—the Adopt A Class Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati—were granted $10,000.

“Gateway Community and Technical College is grateful for this surprise grant,” President Fernando Figueroa said in a press release. We’re proud to partner with Duke Energy in many facets, but most notably by offering the region’s only lineworker training program. Together, we’re working to meet our region’s workforce needs.”

The grant money was part of a $240,000 distribution spree to 24 longstanding nonprofit partners of the Duke Energy Foundation. The recipients were located across Duke Energy’s coverage range in states like North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
