The Overlook at Sunrock development, proposed by Fischer Homes, has been passed by Wilder City Council for a zoning change and a stage one development. At Wilder’s last city council meeting on June 18, council decided to table any decisions until Monday’s meeting.
Concerns about the speed limit on Three Mile Road were brought up again, with councilmember Kelly Meiser asking to approve a motion that would try to work with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, known as KYTC, on a solution.
City Administrator Terry Vance said he has already reached out to KYTC to do a traffic study on Three Mile Road. “They’ve never gotten back to us,” Vance said. “They’re supposed to be doing a radar study of the speed limit and to make that determination.”
Vance also said that he would be willing to reach out to the transportation cabinet again.
“I think we can continue to work on the speed; I don’t think it affects this development plan at all,” Vance said. “I think the speed’s too high. I think everybody realizes it’s too high.”
Before the vote was taken, councilmember Meiser also reiterated that this development would allow Wilder to gain revenues of around $31 million over 40 years.
“If you just do an average, that sums up to $782,000 a year, which is 14.3% of our current budget,” Meiser said. “I do feel like that would substantially help Wilder.”
The Overlook at Sunrock zoning change was passed by the six-member council with a vote of 4-1, with councilmember Sandy Decker recusing herself. The stage one development passed by a vote of 5-0, with councilmember Decker recusing herself again.
