Sanitation District 1 and the Environmental Protection Agency recently released advice on spotting water leaks, including toilet leaks, in honor of Fix a Leak Week, which took place from March 18 to March 24.

One piece of advice suggests using food coloring to detect toilet leaks.

“Put a few drops of food coloring into the tank at the back of your toilet and let it sit for 10 minutes,” advised the EPA. “If color shows up in the bowl, you have a leak.”

Check out the flyer below for more advice on leaks and how to spot them.
