The Campbell County Board of Education approved funding for technology and fine arts program upgrades in Campbell County Schools.
The board of education voted at Monday night’s meeting on resources to ensure all teachers have a work laptop over all four years and that all classrooms are updated with the most up-to-date technology. In addition, the board voted on improvements to the fine arts programs at the high school.
The allocation of $500,000 will help refresh all classrooms across the district with updated sound systems, display panels, and projection devices.
The board said these funds would ensure that technology is the most conducive for learning.
Students will be able to interact with the new technology as a tool to help their thinking, work quality and improve their skills, according to members of the board. Part of the upgrades will allow students to connect their laptops to a panel where their work can be displayed for peer feedback.

“As all of us know that working toward our vision pillars says that we will provide world-class pathways opportunities for our students, and this is a huge step in doing that,” Campbell County Schools Superintendent Shelli Wilson said.
An additional $50,000 will go toward five new sousaphones — in instrument similar to a tuba — for the Campbell County Band of Pride. $250,000-$300,000 will go toward new theatrical and house lights in the auditorium for the drama program, and money will go to the arts and choir programs for furniture and space enhancements.
Lastly, the board approved allocating $30,000 for the 2023-2024 school year toward enhancing the fine arts program. The amount was set aside for Associate Superintendent Adam Ritter to work with fine arts directors to decide the best use of the money.
