A motorcyclist died after a pickup truck crashed him into in Campbell County Monday evening, according to Campbell County Police Department.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Alexandria Pike between Peach Grove Road and East Nagel Road Connection.

In a news release, Campbell County police said the driver of a Ford pickup truck was traveling south, after “cresting a slight grade,”, came upon traffic stopped at a temporary traffic light constructed for road work. Investigators said the pickup driver was unable to stop in time and hit a motorcycle stopped in traffic.

According to the news release, the motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle. He died from his injuries.

Campbell County police identified the motorcyclist as Robert Legrand Jr., 33, of Middletown, Ohio.

The investigation into the crash continues, Campbell County police said.
