“There is currently no connection being investigated that links the three incidents,” the Independence Fire District said in a recent press release, referencing three structure fires that occurred within its jurisdiction in March.

The press release came as the result of “an increase in social media awareness” about the fires and the department said it wished to give details about each incident.

All three fires occurred at buildings on Madison Pike.

The first incident occurred on March 1. According to the press release, the fire had already spread to much of the building by the time fire fighters arrived at the scene, although they were eventually able to extinguish the fire with the help of Covington Fire Department. The incident is still being investigated by the Kenton County Fire Investigation Team and no other details are available to the public at this time.

The next fire happened on March 8 at a barn, which sustained “heavy damage” before the district’s fire fighters managed to extinguish the blaze. Following an investigation from the Independence Fire District’s in-house investigation team, the cause of the fire was categorized as “undetermined.”

The final fire took place on March 15 and caused “moderate damage” to a residence. The fire started in the basement before spreading to the rest of the building. The cause of the fire was listed as “electrical,” following an investigation from Kenton County Fire Investigation.
