Edgewood police reminded drivers to be aware of pedestrians and bicyclists after a child was struck while cycling to school on Wednesday morning.

“This is a good reminder for everyone to be watching for pedestrians and bicyclists going to and from school,” the department said in a Facebook post. “Parents, please remind your children to watch for vehicles at the intersections before crossing the streets.”

The car was turning from Edgemar Road onto Dudley Road as the child was crossing Edgemar, and struck the child with the front of the car.

The child fell off the bike and, according to Edgewood police, sustained non life-threatening injuries. The child was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The driver was not charged in the incident.
