On Aug. 1, the drop-off recycling location in the TANK bus parking lot at 9000 Alexandria Pike will permanently close. The Campbell County Fiscal Court announced at its meeting on July 20 that the closing is due to frequent issues with illegal dumping and widespread misuse of the bins.
The nine bins will be relocated to new locations, including Pendery Park in Melbourne, the Campbell County Senior Center in Highland Heights, and the Campbell County Parks offices in Alexandria.
Judge/Executive Steve Pendery said people frequently drop things off that have nothing to do with recycling.
“These new locations will be monitored closely and adjusted as needed,” Pendery said.
