After a month-long search, police arrested James Ewing, 35, of Covington, in connection with a robbery at Truist Bank in Newport May 9.

Newport police thanked the public for their continued tips and assistance in the investigation.

Ewing was arrested in Ohio, Newport Police said.

Last month, LINK nky reported that officers were dispatched to the Truist Bank location at 5th and Monmouth streets after being advised that a male subject entered the bank wearing a facemask. He handed the teller a note demanding money and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police reported that they positively identified a subject within a few hours after canvassing the area, and a warrant was issued for Ewing’s arrest.
