The Truist Bank branch in Newport was robbed on Monday morning and now police are searching for the suspect.
Newport Police said Wednesday that James “Jimmy” Ewing, 35, entered the bank at 5th and Monmouth streets at around 9 a.m., wearing a face mask. He handed a note to a teller demanding cash, police allege.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, Ewing fled the bank, heading east on Fifth Street.
After a few hours, police were able to identify Ewing a suspect. They believe that he is homeless but is connected to the Covington and Silver Grove areas.
Police said that they have checked several locations associated with Ewing, but he has not been located.
There is a warrant for his arrest.
He is not believed to be armed.
