Some Boone County residents will see cheaper water bills soon.
Boone County Fiscal Court heard an update from county administrator Jeff Earlywine on the local water projects and surcharge changes. Since 2003, many Boone County residents who are customers of the Boone County Water District have paid a surcharge of $25 on their bills. Earlywine said the surcharges will see an early retirement for those in water subdistrict A.Â
According to Boone County Water District, subdistrict A customers include residents on:
- Akin Lane
- Anson Lane
- Beaver Road
- Bias Hollow
- Big Bone Church Road
- Big Bone Road
- Blackberry Hill Drive
- Brewer Lane
- Brian Drive
- Brookview Lane
- Bullittsburg Church Road
- Bullittsville Road
- Caribou Drive
- Crayton Way
- Deerfield Lane
- East Bend Road
- Easton Lane
- Emerald Drive
- Fawn Drive
- Feeley Road
- Forest View Drive
- Idlebrook Lane
Earlywine noted that the water utility and the county lose revenue due to the surcharge change, but said customers have been paying the monthly fee for the last 15-20 years, depending on when they signed up with Boone County Water.
Water subdistrict B is being considered for the same amendment. Residents of subdistrict B include addresses on:
- Idlewild Bypass
- Idlewild Road
- Jacobs Run
- Kirby Drive
- Kirby Lane
- Locust Grove Road
- Lona Lane
- Lucy Court
- Michelle Drive
- Petersburg Road
- Possum Path
- Raspberry Court
- Rice Pike
- Royal Castle Way
- Snow Road
- Three Trees Lane
- Twin Hills Court
- U.S. Hwy. 42
- Union Reserve North Road
- Wolfe Road
- Wood Run Road
- Zachary Court
Earlywine said a decision for subdistrict B will likely be made in August of this year, when the water utility company completes its examination of the area and the impact losing the surcharge will have. The commissioner predicts the company will ask for amendments to the county’s memorandum of understanding around that time, too, if not sooner.
