Due to the outpouring of information police received after a TANK bus hit and killed a pedestrian on 4th Street in Covington Thursday afternoon, police said were able to identify the victim.
Police are not releasing the identity of the man yet because the family asked for privacy as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
“We would like to thank all of the individuals and news agencies for their support in both relaying and obtaining information on this case,” Lt. Col. Brian Valenti wrote in a press release Friday morning. “The sharing of information was integral in identifying the victim in this tragedy.”
The man was struck while running on 4th Street, police said. The vehicle left after hitting the pedestrian and police said they believe the driver may not have known he struck the man.
Once police obtained video of the incident, they located the TANK bus and driver that hit the man, and said the driver was cooperating with police.
