David Schneider is seeking his first elected term on Florence City Council after being appointed to the six-member body in early 2025.
Council members unanimously selected Schneider to fill the vacancy created by the death of council member David Osborne. Schneider was sworn into office in February 2025.
A longtime Florence resident and insurance professional, Schneider brought previous city government experience to the council. He served on the Florence Board of Adjustment from 2006 to 2014.
Schneider has also spent more than two decades as an officer with the Boone County Business Association and served as the organization’s president in 2025. He has been involved with the annual Bean Bash, which benefits Special Olympics programs and other organizations serving people with disabilities.
Since joining the council, Schneider has participated in several development and infrastructure decisions. In February 2025, he joined the council majority in approving the creation of Florence’s Transportation Improvement District, which was created to help the city fund and coordinate transportation improvements.
