The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has revealed plans to construct an 80,000-square-foot cargo warehouse, expanding the airport’s overall cargo handling capacity.
An agreement was reached between CVG and Burrell Aviation Cincinnati LLC to invest $20 million of capital toward the project. Construction will occur on a 4.5-acre plot of land at the north end of the CVG campus. As of now, there is no finalized timeline.
In 2022, CVG demolished older cargo facilities to free up room for new cargo-related infrastructure such as freight forwarders. CVG is the seventh largest cargo airport in North America and is home to Amazon Air’s primary U.S. Hub and DHL Express Global Superhub.
“Our strategic plan focuses on diversifying cargo operations, specifically, expanding general cargo handling capacity,” CVG CEO Candace McGraw said in a press release. “We’ve been approached by developers and are pleased to partner with Burrell Aviation on this flagship facility. With ample demand, we know this facility will act as a catalyst for continued cargo growth at CVG.”
Burrell Aviation Cincinnati is subsidiary of the Colorado-based Burrell Group and Burrell Aviation. The company’s primary focus is to invest and develop aeronautical systems.

Both Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear commented on the project by welcoming the investment into the airport.
“We welcome this investment by Burrell Aviation at CVG to continue to grow cargo handling capacity and look forward to working with them to make this project a success,” Beshear said.
