Kentucky Rep. Stephanie Dietz, a Republican from Edgewood who represents the Kentucky House’s 65th District, has been defeated, according to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s website as of election night. Beginning in January 2027, the district will be represented by Democrat Aaron Currin.

District 65 includes a chunk of Kenton County, including Covington. Dietz’s defeat flips a key Northern Kentucky district in favor of the Democrats. She has occupied the seat since 2023.

Currin and Dietz are both attorneys. Currin has worked primarily as a public defender. He said one of his campaign pillars was to make the government more accessible and understandable for normal people.

“Too often, citizens only learn about major decisions after they have effectively been made,” Currin told LINK nky earlier this year. “Whether the issue is taxes, zoning, schools, public safety, healthcare or economic development, people deserve clear information early enough to understand what is being proposed, why it is being proposed and how it will affect them.”
