Voters across Boone County headed to the polls on Nov. 3 to elect representatives to their municipal governments.
In addition to Florence City Council, voters in Union and Walton cast ballots in their respective city elections. Florence, Union and Walton are Boone County’s only three incorporated municipalities.
Walton and Union operate under different forms of municipal government. Walton uses a mayor-council system, consisting of an elected mayor and six city council members. Under this structure, the mayor oversees the city’s executive operations, while the council serves as its legislative body, responsible for passing ordinances and approving the budget.
Union uses a commission form of government, with an elected mayor and four city commissioners who collectively exercise legislative, executive and administrative authority. In both cities, council members and commissioners serve two-year terms, while mayors serve four-year terms.
Here are the results of both races.
Union City Commission
The City of Union saw five candidates compete for four seats on the Union City Commission in Tuesday’s general election.
The candidates included incumbents Doug Bine and George Eldridge, along with Eric Dulaney, Christopher Reeves and outgoing Mayor Larry Solomon.
Reeves, Bine, Eldridge and Dulaney secured seats on the Union City Commission in Tuesday’s general election after the election results were tabulated.

The Union City Commission currently consists of Mayor Larry King Solomon and four commissioners: Doug Bine, George Eldridge, Kimberly Tuyn and John Mefford. Tuyn chose not to seek reelection, while Mefford was elected Union’s next mayor.
