We enter year three of partnering up with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in expanding the Team of the Week awards!
Through the first two years, $4,000 in scholarships have been handed out to the Team of the Season and Team of the Year award winners.
In order to get to that point, it starts here with the weekly Team of the Week awards.
In the same fashion as year’s past, the weekly TOW winners will then be eligible for Team of the Season. It’s typically 10 winners from that respective season that runs for fall, winter and spring sports. The Team of the Season vote comes at the end of those respective seasons where the winner is awarded a plaque and a $500 scholarship to a student-athlete of their choice.
Then it comes down to the ultimate prize…Team of the Year where the three Team of the Season winners will then be put up in a vote for another plaque for the trophy case and an additional $500 scholarship to a student-athlete of their choice.
This week’s nominated teams are listed below with some information provided by the submitter or LINK nky staff. The poll where you can vote follows at the end of the article. Some of the nominees are combined for a couple weeks with some seasons starting earlier than others.

Beechwood Volleyball
It was a perfect 4-0 week for the Beechwood volleyball team that included a second straight All “A” regional title.
They defeated Villa Madonna, Holy Cross and closed out the week with a pair of top 10 wins over St. Henry in the All “A” regional championship and a win over Lexington Catholic.
The team currently sits at 8-1 on the season with the lone loss to the state’s No. 1 team, Assumption.
On the front line, they’ve been led by Isabel O’Brien, Macy Armstrong and Rachel Lewandowski with 89, 64 and 49 kills, respectively.
Skylr Estep gets the offense going with 176 assists. O’Brien leads the way with 23 aces, Kennedy Sturgeon has 20 and Estep with 19. On defense, O’Brien has the most digs with 67, Sturgeon with 57.
Calvary Christian Boys Soccer
The Cougars rattled off wins over Bishop Brossart (1-0) and Carroll County (5-0) to improve to 5-0-1 on the year.
They’ve been led in the attack by Braden and Bryce Ellis with seven and four goals, respectively. Braden has added five assists, Bryce with four. Garrett Murphy, Tobias Mello and Gage Worstell have three goals each. Worstell is tied with Braden Ellis with five assists, Mello has added three.
Ian Teter and Hunter Roszkowski have combined for 44 saves and just three goals allowed while posting three shutouts.
Ryle Girls Soccer
The Lady Raiders continued a solid start to the 2026 season with two wins and a tie and were leading 1-0 over Conner in a district game that was suspended with 16 minutes to play. That improves their season record to 4-2-1, the lone two losses to top three teams in the state in Sacred Heart and Notre Dame.
They’ve been led in scoring by Ella Hoenderkamp and Kourtney Rashchulte with three goals apiece. Lexi Andross and Rahschulte have two assists each. Avery Smith has posted three shutous and allowed just five goals while recording 44 saves.
Boone County Football
The Rebels are 2-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2010-11.
They squeaked one out on Friday over St. Henry, 34-31. Malik Johnson tallied 163 yards rushing with two touchdowns while Asa LeGrand threw for 135 yards and a touchdown and ran for 28 yards and a touchdown. Amare Newberry recorded three receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Johnson added six tackles and a fumble recovery on defense, Javier Diaz returning a kickoff for a touchdown to add another score. Mateo Granados was the leading tackler with 13 and forced a fumble. The Rebels defense tallied 10 tackles for loss and three sacks.
They’ll look for their first 3-0 start since 2011 with a home game against Newport Central Catholic on Friday.
Scott Volleyball
After opening the season 0-2, Scott bounced back last week with two wins to get back to .500. They defeated Lloyd Memorial and Dixie Heights.
Jacinda Campbell and Kinley Dunford have led the attack with 27 and 24 kills, respectively. Shelby White has 36 assists and Emory Sullivan leads with 18 aces. Sullivan also leads the way with 45 digs.
Campbell County Football
The Camels are off to a 2-0 start for the second straight season, earning a pair of blowout victories over Scott and Southwestern.
In the 47-14 victory over Southwestern, Xander Guy threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns. His top receiver was Ayden Earls, hauling in three passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Cade Anthrop and Grady Lucas added receiving touchdowns.
The defense recorded a sack and Aiden Seibert returned a punt for a touchdown.
