The annual Riverfest, Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks event will return this Labor Day weekend, and folks hoping to enjoy the show from Covington should plan ahead.
“Riverfest brings thousands of people to the riverfront and other locations with a view of the river,” Covington Police Chief Justin Wietholter said in a press release. “We ask for everyone’s patience as they navigate the pedestrian-filled roadways. Our goal is to have a fun and safe event so patrons can return for years to come.”
The event will see what Visit Cincy is calling “one of the largest firework displays in the midwest,” and will sport planned activities on both sides of the Ohio River. Given that Covington is a prime viewing location for the fireworks show, the City of Covington and Covington Police have released this year’s traffic, parking and alcohol restrictions for Sunday, Sept. 6.
The restrictions, which are very similar to last year’s, will be in place in Devou Park, as well as the area north of East 4th Street between the Licking Rivera and Madison Avenue, which has been dubbed the Riverfest Impact Area. The police will set up a command center at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Use the arrows to consult the maps below for more details.
