Sen. Shelley Funke Frommeyer, R-Alexandria, on the Senate floor.

To the graduates of the Class of 2026, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Your hard work, determination, and perseverance have brought you to this moment, and you should be proud of what you have accomplished.

Graduation marks the beginning of a new chapter. Some of you are heading to college, others into the workforce, military service, technical training, or another path in life. No matter where your future leads, I encourage you to stay grounded in your values, work hard, and treat others with kindness and respect.

Scripture reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

There will be challenges ahead, but there will also be opportunities to grow, serve others, and make a difference in your community. As someone who has spent his life in this region, I have great confidence in the next generation and the future you will help build.

To the families, teachers, coaches, and mentors who helped guide these graduates along the way, thank you for your support and encouragement.

And to the Class of 2026, congratulations once again. Keep your faith strong, your work ethic steady, and remember that we are counting on you to be leaders in your communities.
