FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 6, 2026) — Sen. Shelley Funke Frommeyer, R-Alexandria, is proud to announce the 2026 Commonwealth Awards, a recognition program designed to honor students who demonstrate strong character, consistent effort and a commitment to personal growth.
The Commonwealth Award will be presented to one male and one female student in the graduating class at participating schools across the 24th Senate District, which includes Campbell, Pendleton, Bracken, and parts of Kenton counties. Eligible grade levels may include fifth or sixth grade, eighth or ninth grade, or 12th grade, depending on each school’s structure.
“This award is about recognizing students who give their best every day,” Frommeyer said. “It highlights those who show up, work hard, stay involved and strive to improve, not just academically, but as individuals.”
Recipients of the Commonwealth Award will reflect a well-rounded commitment to their education, including strong attendance, active participation, and a minimum C grade average. The award emphasizes effort, perseverance and character as key measures of student success.
“As your state senator, I want to reinforce the idea that learning leads to earning,” Frommeyer said. “When students build good habits and take pride in their work, they are setting themselves up for success long after they leave the classroom.”
Frommeyer will attend local awards ceremonies to present the honor to selected students. Schools interested in participating should contact the senator’s office at 502-564-8100 or by email at shelley.funkefrommeyer@kylegislature.gov.
