At LINK nky, we believe that educators – whether they are teachers or principals, tutors or superintendents – are at the heart of our community’s success. The Educator of the Week contest is our way of recognizing and celebrating the incredible educators who go above and beyond for Northern Kentucky students every day.
Each week, we will choose three nominees who have made an impact on their community and who represent a diverse mix of roles, grade levels, subject areas, school types and geographic locations.

The Educators

Educator: Erica Perkins
Role: Teacher at Campbell County Middle School
Nominator: Leah Redden
Why Redden nominated Perkins:
Mrs. Perkins is really easy to talk to. She’s always ready to have a laugh with you when you need it.
She brings smiles to all her students every day. She makes classes engaging and fun. When I’ve had a problem in the past, she was one of the first people I went to.

Educator: Heidi Clary
Role: Special education teacher at Mary A. Goetz, Ludlow
Nominator: Julie Futscher
Why Futscher nominated Clary:
Heidi is a special education teacher in the Elementary school, but her influence is so much bigger.
My daughter is now a senior, she suffers from anxiety and depression, when she is having a bad day, she knows she can go to Heidi, but I help her get through and finish out the day. Heidi always has words of encouragement, a calming demeanor, and keeps snacks stocked. Heidi has been my daughter’s go-to since 5th grade. She shows up to games and supports her students through the years. Heidi is very involved within the school, she coaches volleyball, basketball, and cheer. She is a positive light to all her students, past and present. She deserves to be recognized.
Educator: Jennifer Young

Role: Teacher at Glenn O Swing Elementary
Nominator: Deanna Herald
Why Herald nominated Young:
Ms. Young goes above and beyond to show her students that she cares and is there for them. Not only the students in her classes, but every student in the entire school.
My son had a rough start to the school year, and she has helped them in so many ways, working on his speech and his anxiety from being away from me. She does yearbook club for the school as well, and the students that attend just love and adore her, and she works with them and teaches them how to do things, as well as working with them on how they can improve their work. She is the most caring, compassionate and loving teacher at the school. And she puts her all into each and every student. Being there for the ups and the downs, helping them through the best way she can.
