Jennifer Zaccheus-Miller, a former Campbell County attorney, has pleaded guilty to stealing over $200,000 from the estates of two deceased women in the county.
As a result, Zaccheus-Miller will be temporarily prohibited from practicing law and will be ordered to pay restitution.
Zaccheus-Miller was indicted in July. She was arrested in May in Powell County near Red River Gorge after missing a court deadline regarding $26,000 in funds missing from one estate, according to earlier news reports. At the time, police were reportedly investigating alleged ties between Zaccheus-Miller and other estates with missing funds.
The two thefts occurred from May 2020 to April 2024 and from June 2023 to May 2024, respectively. Thefts of monetary amounts between $10,000 and $1 million are class C felonies with jail sentences between five and 10 years.
“This defendant took advantage of Kentuckians in their grief,” said Attorney General Russell Coleman in a press release. “It’s a shameful crime, and I’m grateful for the talented team of prosecutors who delivered justice for these victims and their families.”
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for April 16.
